There is a surge of new research in math education around the 8 Math Teaching Practices.  Carol Dweck, Jo Boaler and John Hattie have changed the conversation about how we teach math and number sense.  In this session, we will explore the practical side of this research and examine what a math classroom in grades K-12 should look like and sound like.

The 8 Teaching Practices include conversations around the following:

  • Math Discourse in the classroom
  • Posing Purposeful Questions
  • Promoting Productive Struggle
  • Teaching using Multiple Pathways
  • Using student work to elicit conceptual understanding
